Artist Statement
Since I first heard this song in 2006 at MetroLive, I knew that “Marvelous Light” was the anthem I had been needing on my journey out of addiction and into the freedom of Christ. This song has played in my mind 1,000s of times over the last 6 years. What a true blessing to be able to create a testimonial through art and offer it up as worship to the One whose life, death and resurrection have set me free.
My chief goal in “Breaking Light” was to capture the themes of Christ’s victory expressed as His light over darkness, His life over death, and His freedom over bondage. The elements of the breaking light on the horizon, the joyful running of a young boy who is free, the flight of wild geese and the tension between the typography in an upside-down world of sin (the sin I dwelled in until Christ delivered my life) are my best effort to visually express this amazing song from Charlie Hall.
