Artist Statement
Often times a potter will break a piece that isn’t up to standard and find that the glaze on the inside is beautifully ideal. The words of the song “Empty Me” struck me on a profound level and made me think about how we can be the opposite of that potter’s work. We can look attactive, content, happy, all-is-well on the outside while the inside is a true reflection of our walk with the Lord Whether He rips us open or shows us our soul with a clean cut, He shows us that all of the layers we add, the things of this world that we allow to influence us (“…vain ambitions, selfishness, poison of pride…”) cover the perfection of His creation. If we allow ourselves to be emptied of those things and filled with Him, there is a purity that cannot be equaled.

Lyrics
Empty Me, by Chris Sligh
I’ve had just enough of the spotlight
When it burns bright
To see how it gets in the blood
And I’ve tasted my share
Of the sweet life
And the wild ride
And found a little is not quite enough
I know how i can stray
And how fast my heart could change
Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me
So i can be
Filled with you
Ive seen just enough of the quick buys
Of the best lies
To know how prodigals can be drawn away
I know how I can stray
And how fast my heart could change
Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me
So I can be
Filled with you
Cuz everything is a lesser thing
Compared to you
Compared to you
Cuz everything is a lesser thing
Compared to you
So I surrender all
Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
Empty me
Of the selfishness inside
Every vain ambition
And the poison of my pride
And any foolish thing my heart holds to
Lord empty me of me
So I can be
Lord empty me of me
So I can be
Filled with you.
Filled with you
Empty me
Awesome job Jenny! I’m so proud of you. I love the message and the scripture inside the main piece.
